Happy birthday, PopPop!

Picasa web albumEven though he still can't remember what a blog is and has never seen this one, we'll wish PopPop a Happy Birthday here anyway. Eighty years old today! It just doesn't seem possible. He's pretty spry, though slowing down little by little. He still putters around the yard, hitting golf balls and retrieving them, tending the garden and picking raspberries — he's out raking leaves right now. Little One has taken over for Eve as PopPop's constant companion.

DamCat is making a lasagna and the gang will be here for dinner. I'm making a loaf of bread. We'll see how that turns out, we know the lasagna will be delicious.

Once their computer is fixed, we'll have a personalized happy birthday song from the B&R label, which I'll add here asap!

  1. The lasagna was excellent, as always, and my loaf of bread wasn't bad. Ten grain doesn't really go well with lasagna, but it turned out ok. The D's brought a couple bottles of wine, including a yummy Beaulieu Vineyards Merlot.

PopPop got some good gifts: a nice, heavy, lined shirt that he will live in during the fall and spring, a book about Ted Williams, some soft socks without a heavy elastic at the top, and a DVD about Les Paul. YP's handmade card is in his permanent collection now. The remembrance cards from the Cudjoe Krew were a big hit — he enjoyed the stroll down memory lane and is still talking about Ace Hardware!
