Idôl Vodka
Idôl Vodka had some absolutely (no pun intended) gorgeous drink photos on their trade page, and in keeping with our blog name, I thought I'd add one. I hope they don't mind. Whaddya think? It sounds like an interesting vodka, the only vodka made from small, hand-picked lots of noble Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from Burgundy, France. Has anyone tried it?

Yes, I've tried it. At the promotion that Premier did at the anual tasting a year or more ago.
ReplyDeleteThey made Electric Lemonade and the like. They did not pick up on the wine/vodka aspect of it. Maybe they were thinking tourist town, push for tourists cocktails.
I wouldn't think of mixing wines with it... but would try it at least once. Smirnoff usually beats taste tests, but Goose and Ketel One & Stoli are still call as top shelf mixers.. Call me crazy, but if your going to mix.. anything will do. Martini? then go for your personal pleasure vodka.. Absolute does well down here, there are sooooo many boutique vodka's out there, restaurant/bars simply don't have room on the shelves. Maybe if Colin Powell starts to drink it, it will gain popularity... LOL One company tried to sell a product that would take a cheap bourbon (or whatever) in a snifter and within a minute make it a VERY fine bourbon. Much like The Vinturi wine aerator aka Vinturi Essential. We did taste tests, nose tests, and let me tell you, Wow what a difference. Cheap tequilla turned into fine sipping tequilla. Cheap wine aged into mature oak barreled wine. Now that's a product everyone should buy!
Is this what you mean? I'd be tempted to buy one if it works better than simply decanting.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried that item; I wish I could remember the name of the one we bought at LBY to try. It was two yrs ago and purchased out of the wine and spirits mag. I think. It had a holder for your brandy snifter which held it at an angle over magnets. The magnets were to change the molecules in example whiskey to make it smooth/mellow etc. We used it on several different spirits to great success, as well as wine. Geez I really wanted one at the time, around $45 or so I think. I'll have Miss P ask tomorrow at work about it.
ReplyDeleteNadine, I'm done with lurking this blog. If you find out where you can get that magnetic device that turns rotgut to premium, I want a seat on that wagon.
ReplyDeleteI've been using Luksusova potato vodka for my martinis. The price is right for me and it tastes quite satisfactory.
Lately someone recommended another cheap vodka, Iceberg I think. I tried it and found it to be OK, but it had nothing on the Luksusova.
I'd like to see what happens to Evan Williams or Tres Sombreros after exposure to the Mighty Magnets.
Anhaga, welcome aboard!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, FINALLY FOUND IT! SHOOTER BUDDY. It can be found at http://shooterbuddy.com/
ReplyDeleteall the info you need is at their website. And yes, we did try it on just about everything: wine, beer, vodka, whiskey, water, cheap cognac, you name it! I can't believe I couldn't Google and find it, but Jed called me back and is giving his unit to Miss Polly, so I'll be back trying it on Martini's at home here. Good Luck Wayne! Thanks for stopping by, and Wabbit - you gotta get this one!
I just read all that I wrote... Boy do I sound like an eager Alcoholic... LOL
