We didn't do much for Memorial Day, just sausages, hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill with potato salad. C and H came over for the day while their parents went golfing. They got here late afternoon, just in time for some food and a round of croquet. A fun day and we had gorgeous weather all weekend.
On the nature front, one hen turkey from the local group of 11 or so reappeared. Perhaps she lost her clutch of eggs to a predator and now has nothing better to do than hang out with us. The pair of Canada geese that had taken up residence in the yard have been gone for about a week and are maybe sitting on their second clutch. We think they lost the first group of goslings to snapping turtles or coyotes.
New Chef in town you all might be having some free time init ;-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good day. They girls are so lucky too... Pop Pop looks great standing at the grill and I can taste Moms potatoe salad right now.. yummmmm. Plus I can smell the fresh cut grass and know how dissapointed you would all be when I won at croquet.. I've got R as my grill man lately, he is a wonderful dinner accessory. Do the swans still reside on the lake?
ReplyDeleteDid I put an E on potato?? OMG
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm reporting you to the Quayle committee for remedial spelling!
ReplyDeleteThe swans are still around. They move between this pond and the one up the street. I haven't seem them for a while, they probably have little ones trailing behind them by now.
