Lunar eclipse

We have a fairly warm night for viewing the total lunar eclipse, but of course it's too cloudy to see a thing. It's been two years since the last one, so we are a bit disappointed. Maybe you Floridians will get a good look at the eclipse, it should be at its peak at about 7:20pm tonight for you. There are also a few live webcams to watch; this one is in the Canary Islands, and this one is in Belgium.

Total lunar eclipse as seen in Belgium

  1. It's been raining for most of the day in central FL. I just checked outside. There isn't even a sky showing at all — just a gray murk. Wish I wuz in Belgium.

  2. Sounds like you had the same sky that we had during the eclipse. Two hours later, there was the moon, just as bright as could be. Figures.

Maybe we'll have better luck on August 28th.

  3. Here in the Keys, even at sunset visibility was poor. (no rain, perfect temperature though) The haze was thick, we wondered if it was due to the supposed front that never came? Cane field smoke from Cuba? It made a beautiful sunset, but horrible viewing for the "total eclipse of the moon". We were in Key West with all the lights, not on Cudjoe up on the deck. Thanks for that photo.

  4. Is it me, or was it the 1/2 bottle of Pinot Grigio that I consumed. I saw it, I swear. It was cloudy, but I could see it. Awesome!

  5. You might have seen it if you happened to catch a quick break in the clouds. We can't be blaming this on a bottle of wine, can we!?!

  6. Tonight, Sunday, is perfect for star gazing. The planer Venus is already brilliant in the low western sky. It seems that yesterevening's lunar eclipse has brought us perfectly pellucid skies. Something's seems not right

  7. The moon wasn't deep red like it would have been last night, but it was a beautiful orange. I took a photo, haven't dumped it onto the computer yet, but if it's any good I'll post a link.

  8. Same here in the Keys, Wayne. The Milky Way wouldn't be called Milky these past nights. Miss P had 9 friends up on the 3rd deck Sunday eve playing dominoes and drinking cervasa. They said the moon was incredible all evening and most wanted to sleep out up there. As for wine... LOL,,,, blame is for rain.
