With much discussion going into this, we have thought it over and decided what our top ten chick flicks would be. Here they are:

☻Thelma and Louise
☻Fried Green Tomatoes
☻Pretty Woman
☻Stepmom
☻Now and Then
☻The Notebook
☻16 Candles
☻Pretty in Pink
☻Mean Girls
☻A Walk to Remember

Thats all folks!

  1. Great choices.. We are going to make a final top 20 flicks.

  2. In the comments on the last post, I suggested making multiple lists and coming up with more narrow categories. This is yet another list with lots of movies I left off my list, and amazingly enough, only two I haven't seen (Mean Girls and A Walk To Remember). Oh wait, I haven't seen Now and Then in one sitting, though I've probably seen most of it at one time or another.

  3. Oh, btw, I changed the color of this post to something we old folks can actually read. That lime green is just impossible to see.

  4. Hi Peas. I'm getting in a bit late on this, but I have to say up fron that I've only seen your top three titles. Pretty Woman seemed kinda average to me, but I won't soon forget the parking lot scene in Green Tomatoes - Yeee-ha! The principle reason I have to comment though is to commend your most excellent assignation of Thelma and Louise to the spot reserved for the truly Numero Uno among the all-time greatest Chick Flicks. What a great movie -- one of my all-time favorites in any category.

  5. How about a final top ten? I've done a crude Acrobat form that you can fill in and email to me. You can either save it to your computer and send it as an attachment, or send it through whatever email program you use (Outlook Express, Thunderbird, whatever).

    Here is the link:

The seven group winners should automatically be entered on the final page, and you can add three losers manually.

Not ideal, but a way of drilling the list down some.

  6. Ok, I redid the form, now we'll have 14 picks from the lists, plus five more that you can add in, plus Thelma and Louise which, being the uber chick-flick, gets an automatic pass to the final list.

Fill out the form, hit the Submit by Email button, choose Other, then Save Data File. Save the resulting xml form to your computer desktop (or wherever), then email to me as an attachment. Otherwise, I'll get a blank form. You can print the form if you want to keep a copy, it's four pages long.
