The final Harry Potter book

Logito and I did our midnight run to WalMart last night, thinking that since the advertisement said they'd be selling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at 12:01am, we might snag a copy. When we got there, the parking lot was amazingly empty, and we were congratulating ourselves on going to WalMart, where it seemed there would be no line. When we got to the door, we found out why there was no line - they had decided not to start selling the book until 7am. Sigh.

No biggie. We got in the car and headed for Waldenbooks. The parking lot was packed all the way back to Pier 1, and the little bookstore itself had papered over all the windows so nobody could see in. I don't know whether they were doing a sleepover there, but it was too crowded for us. We saw one little kid dressed up like Harry Potter, but that was all.

Harvard Square had an estimated 10,000 people there last night, and I'd guess half were in costume. Pretty cool.

  1. Sounds like you had fun doing the midnight run anyway! I may have acted like one of the owls delivering a Howler at Walmart.. LoL... Did they put you on a list to get the book? It's a huge deal and everyone is rushing to read it.. exciting!
Even with audio books on such a rise... it's always more fun to get into a great read! and the Potter books are FANTASTIC! I'll have to go see the latest movie for sure, I'll love it.

  2. I went into WalMart to get some cold cream on the way home from the aquarium, and they had a table set up just inside the door with hundreds of Harry Potter books piled up. Not one person was buying them. They really blew it by not being open at midnight like they had advertised.

I'm going to have to get on the stick and start reading the book - Logito will finish it before I do, but we'll get to discuss it when I'm done. I just hope nobody tells me about it first!

  3. I just saw this article in Time Magazine: Who Dies in Harry Potter? God

It's a pretty sad world when we need the threat of going to hell or the reward of heaven to just live with honor and do the right thing.
