So, the first picture I receive from Mr. Bill as a test email was this one. It is of the newest boat in the fleet up there in Alaska. It's in the water and his friend Wildman Charlie, who is in the picture, is probably fishing on it right now. He and Mr. Bill called me while they were out fishing a few days ago - there is a fishing spot with good cellphone reception - they were doing great. A whale came by while we talked and spouted water right next to them!
Now that Mr. Bill has finally figured out how to send an email, I'm sure more pictures will come!
Yeah, that's a nice boat and all, but I can't wait to see the photos YOU take when you are there!

it is so beautiful there! i always think of Alaska as just a lot of ice but these pictures prove that there is much more than that. i cant even imagine what it would look like in person.
ReplyDeleteWith all that's been going on around here lately... can you believe that I forgot to mail in my "excuse me from Jury Duty" notice?? Can you believe it?? yeah,,, I got it 3 days after I booked/paid for my flight ... Date being week of August 13th... time 8am.. I arrive back that date and won't be in Key West till afternoon.. See how when it rains it pours? I guess tomorrow I'll go to town and drop it off and be done with it! (and take the rusted out WH to the dump!) BTW I'm surprised the Pop Pop didn't get another one too!

Today's update: Mr. B called from the boat on the way to buy groceries and have WMCharlie pick up a few weights for his dive belt. Seems he plans on taking me out scallop diving the first day I'm there... Hello!!! I hope he doesn't think I'm getting in the water. Mr. B will be working the first few days I'm there so everyone is planning my days for me to do different things.. and I haven't even packed my bags yet.
ReplyDeleteHe told me the there were four different inuit tribes there for the totem ceremony and it was incredible, it is a great honor to participate in the raising which he did.. He cooked all the food with the exception of the fry bread of course that is made by them. They all arrived by traditional canoes in traditional dress and he said to see them coming into the bay brought tears to everyones eyes. They danced, gave many blessings, for the people of the land and the land itself... very -dena- the spititual house is finished and painted and will hold artifacts and be available and welcoming to all the neighbors in the area. He also told me that the Library will look like something out of the hobbit... a natural woodland structure blending into the enviroment.
The orginal owner/builder of the property was there this past week for the ceremony and he & his wife donated a Totem for infront of the original cabin... So big and wide that you walk threw it to get to the front door.
3 totems total.. video and pictures were taken and he will get copies of both. Well, folks that's all for now. BTW... he sounded great... all that fresh mountain air!
So cool. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos and video.
