Salmon fishing

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We went halibut fishing today, but ended up with too many sharks, so we switched to salmon fishing. Man we "slayed" them!!! We caught our limit of Salmon, over 80 lbs! What can I say, another beautiful day in the last frontier!

I printed a few T-shirt for folks here. Little Brandon wanted a fish painting - he loves art and ME. I told him I'd make him one, so we did it together. Three other people here wanted one too, so today I did them.

This afternoon, Mr. Bill napped while Charlie and I went and set his crab traps up at the end of Mink Bay, past the river where we ventured to see eagles and catch salmon standing on the river bed (sorry, no pix). Then we set out to another bay area to recheck the shrimp traps again, and had over 150 lbs of shrimp! I can't believe tomorrow is our last fishing day, we need another week at least. Tomorrow we're going to do an abalone dive and go kayaking.

I have to get a picture of the Blue Jays here, they are called Steller's Jay, I'm pretty sure. Deep blue, large and real characters, they are great!

  1. I am sooo jealous, with you guys catching all those fresh fish (ling, salmon, halibut)and shrimpies. My mouth waters reading each new post. What are you doing with all that good food? Freezing it? Smoking it? How about a blog about your fabulous feasts. I am green with envy.

  2. Key Dear tells me they will be bringing two boxes of frozen fish back to the Keys with them. I don't envy her day tomorrow - they've been invited to a wedding, which will be lovely, but then they fly out tomorrow night. It's going to be a busy day...

Hopefully she'll be rested up by Tuesday and will fill us in on all the bits we didn't hear about.

I speak only for myself, of course, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this vicarious vacation.

  3. Gosh.... so much to share with you! Yes, Sunday was a VERY busy day... instead of taking the floatplane into town, we opted for going by boat... an hour ride to relax and take in the Misty Fjords once again. We left the Lodge at 10 am, took the fish boxes and luggage to the airport and then went across the bay to town. We begged out of the wedding and spent time looking around and in the Artic Bar on the water, sharing drinks and laughs with Charlie and Stacey. We took the water taxi, (which is owned and driven by Rich, his parents live on Ramrod Key, and he lived here for years also) shared great conversation, and checked in for our flight out to Seattle. Where ever we wore our Misty Fjords shirts, we were treated like old friends. Everyone took pictures and we'll be exchanging, since you don't always have a camera with you.
So, I'll now start my photo loading!
