Shrimping day

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We pulled the shrimp traps today and got about 142 pounds of beautiful shrimp - came back, de-headed them, bagged them and went fishing again, out beyond Prince of Wales island. The weather was perfect and smooth seas. We caught halibut, ling cod (best eating fish anywhere and a limit of one per person for non resident and two for residents), rock fish etc.

Before heading home we went out to "seal rocks" to see the sea lions and harbor seals. There were hundreds of them! I took many pictures to try to capture the whole of it. The large bull sea lion that has a harem of about 20 looked to be about 1500 pounds - he is HUGE! The harbor seals are easy going, but the sea lions go into attack mode. They jumped into the water and came shouting at us, with the big daddy on the rocks watching the action. We went on the "foul" smelly side and I'll tell ya, they can stink it up!

  1. Nice job, Wabbit, with the pictures and posts. How would you like to be snapping off a few of those pics yourself?

  2. Are you kidding? I'd love to be there, I'd be taking photos like a mad thing. Key Dear has taken some great shots and will continue to email them to me. I'm basically just posting what she tells me in the emails when she sends photos. She'll make corrections/additions once she gets home and has a more stable internet connection. At least the emails come through!

  3. I'm so happy that I could get email out.. at times I had to resend due to lost connection. One day wabbit and myself got to IM each other before lost connection, that was fun!
